As you prepare for your first wax, it is important to know that there are many different types of hair removal methods.

Waxing has been around since ancient times and was used in Ancient Egypt as a form of hygiene among royalty; however, this practice transformed into removing unwanted facial or body hair throughout history until finally becoming common today due to its effectiveness at providing semi-permanent results by pulling out hairs from their root below skin level with natural ingredients like beeswax, sugarcane extractions and coconut oil so new ones can't grow back within weeks. although some people will start to see regrowth in only a week due to different human hair growth cycles.

Different types of waxing

Strip Wax

The process of strip waxing (soft wax) involves smearing just a thin layer of wax over the skin. A specially designed nonwoven paper strip is applied and pressed firmly, adhering the strip to the wax and the wax to the skin. The strip is then quickly ripped against the direction of hair growth, as parallel as possible to the skin to avoid trauma to the skin. This removes the wax along with the hair.

Hot Wax

Hot Wax is so effective because it is just that – hot. The heat encourages your pores and hair follicles to open up making it easier to remove the hair. Because the hot wax is able to cling to the hair as it dries on the skin it is super effective at stripping out that hair without irritating your skin. Intimate Waxing is generally done with Hot Wax.

Regrowth is less

The best-known benefit of waxing is that the hair doesn't grow back very quickly. Waxing removes the hairs from their root so it's much more effective than shaving which only cuts off all of the top layers at skin level - leaving behind hidden roots ready to re-grow in just days or hours! This means no post-shower stubble, missed areas or fast regrowth because every single strand has been removed by your beauty professional who definitely knows what they're doing when it comes down to removing those pesky little hairs from your body.

Finer regrowth

It’s not just about the amount of regrowth, it’s also about the type of regrowth you’ll experience.

With shaving, as we said, you cut off the hair. This results in a blunt cut. Hairs aren’t naturally blunt! It’s why hair regrowth after shaving feels stubbly.

With waxing, the hair is removed at the follicle. This means that when the hair regenerates and grows back, it does so with a finely tapered end. This end is finer and not stubbly, meaning that even whilst waiting for your next wax, your skin won’t feel as hairy as it would do post-shaving.

Over time, individual hairs may stop growing back altogether and you end up with a sparser coverage of hair.

Exfoliate Your Skin.

When you have dead skin cells and dirt on your skin, you might experience skin breakouts, blemishes, and dryness. It's for this reason why we exfoliate.

Waxing is also an easy way to remove all this build-up on your pores so you are left with a beautiful, smooth and radiant complexion after just one treatment!

While this isn't an exfoliation method, we recommend that you exfoliate a few days before waxing for best results. Please wait at least 48 hours before and after your waxing appointment as exfoliating will make your skin more sensitive.

Eliminate Shaving Rashes

Shaving rash is a common irritant for those who shave. With shaving, every few days you’re exposing your skin to friction which only makes the inflammation worse and leaves it prone to razor burn too! Waxing may be the better option as wax removes hair from its root so that irritation can heal in just over a month before being exposed again.

Fewer ingrown hairs

For many people, shaving can be a disaster when it comes to ingrown hairs. Ingrown hairs cause pain, can lead to ugly bumps, and if infected, will leave scars!

In the case of ingrown hairs, tell your beautician so that they know how to remove wax strips from the skin at an angle while being held tight, preventing hair from getting trapped underneath and reducing the risk of infection.

No More Itching

For many people, after they shave, there is immediate itching, followed by more itching as regrowth begins. With waxing, these problems can be solved because any irritating products that come into contact with your skin during treatment for hair removal on sensitive areas of your body like the legs and underarms are eliminated.

No More Shaving Cuts

Your razor is slippery, your hands are wet and you're not sure what else to do. One slip of the hand can result in a nick or cut that leaves behind an ugly red mark on your skin for weeks after. A professional waxing treatment will take all these troubles out of the equation by removing hair from every pore with no chance for any type of wound whatsoever!

Pamper Yourself

Shaving is one of the most dreaded beauty chores. Waxing at your favourite salon or spa, on the other hand, can provide you with a chance to take a few minutes out of your busy day and pamper yourself! Even though there may still be some discomfort when the strips are removed, hot wax from a professional will soothe the sting.
